Rest in Peace... King McQueen!

He was a man I fell in love with so many years ago...
He was a man that gave me joy and happiness...
He was a man that made me believe that anything is possible...
He was a man I loved and cherish, even though we never met...
He was the man that made me love fashion for what it is... ART
He was the man I once wanted to be...
He was the man that created my favourite dress of all time...
He was our king, with a crown made out of lace and shiffon...
He was no other but the greatest drama queen...
He was invincible, and his legacy will always be...
And like the best he left being the best...
Long live the King! Mr. Alexander McQueen!

Music meets Fashion...Again!

It looks like Lady GaGa is responsable! The 52nd Grammy Awards were all about the girls... and all about the fashion! Everyone looked amazing (even Miley Cyrus, I have to admit)! Actually, there were too many dresses to choose from, but here I present you my top 8:

1.- Rihanna in Elie Saab Haute Couture (flawless!! and you know how much I hate her)

2.- Pink (Such a great dress... and even her perfomance's outfit was amazing)

3.- Lady GaGa in Armani Privé (you can't expect anything less from her)

4.- Katy Perry in Zac Posen (sexy, simple but great!)

5.- Kristen Bell in Etro (pretty simple but this one I really liked)

6.- Beyoncé in Armani Privé (the one from the carpet I didn't like, I loved the one from the ceremony and the Atelier Versace she wore on her performance)

7.- Jennifer Lopez in Atelier Versace (a little old, but she still looks great... loved the hair an make-up!)

8.- Britney Spears in Dolce & Gabbana (you can say anything you want... I know, she played it safe, but she still looks gorgeous! with a face like that, who needs GaGa's wardrobe??)
There were some dresses like Taylor Swift's (who I didn't count because I hate her) and Heidi Klum's (who got better after the Golden Globes) that were really close to make my top 10... but I decided not to do it...

See you at the Academy Awards!

And the Nominees are...

The 67th Golden Globe Awards took place last night, and the winners were kinda surprising... but, that's not what I wanted to write about... it's the fashion what really matters!

The biggest accesory of the night, besides the jewels, was (because of the crappy weather) the umbrellas!!

The dresses were quite interesting, it was a nice battle between the newcommers and the veterans... and the result was very even.

They were dresses we already saw on the runway, like Christina Aguilera's Versace (wich I love!) and some really cool ones.

This is my list of the best 10 dresses (in no specifical order)

1.- Julia Roberts in vintage Yves Saint Laurent

2.- Anna Paquin in a stunning Stella McCartney

3.- Cameron Díaz in a red Alexander McQueen
4.- Chloe Sevigny in Valentino (which she ruined when she got on stage for her award)
5.- Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix
6.- Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior
7.- Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace
8.- January Jones in Lanvin
9.- Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana
10.- Kate Hudson in (a Versace/Chanel inspired) Marchesa

The dresses I hated:

Sandra Bullock in Bottega Venetta (it just looks so cheap)

Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci (i'm sorry, it's boring)

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive (to much of everything)

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta (we've seen this a lot)

Waiting for the Oscars!!!

Leasson Learned... Not!!

It seems that in the world of fashion nobody learns from mistakes... Remember the Lohan/Ungaro fiasco a few months ago?? Well, it's rumoured to be repeated...

At one time, Halston was one of the biggest names in fashion... then it closed. A while ago, it was resucitated. Nothing good came from it (poor poor sales).

Now, rumor has it that they are bringing Sarah Jessica Parker as a design consultant (yes, no joking intended).

First of all, SJP is a well known fashionista, we all love Carrie Bradshaw (one of the most fashionable characters of all time), some may consider her as a fashion icon, but everybody knows that the credit is not all hers, it belongs to Patricia Field.
Despite all of this, there are so many things to be considered to NOT give her the job, but, anyway, let's hope this is just a rumor.
UPDATE: Confirmed... It's true! :S

Top 10 Fashionable Music

So, the year is close to an end, and I want to bring you my Top 10's of the year...

Music videos have always been an outlet for fashionable musicians, and this year was no exception...

10.- Zero - Yeah Yeah Yeahs: It's funny how the people who see themselves as real-harcore-serious-musicians try to stay away from fashion, and the ones that actually make good-groundbreaking music love fashion and are not afraid to show it.

9.- We Walk - The Ting Tings: Love the feathered dress, love the colours (although it kinda looks like a Puma-ad), the only thing that bothers me are the sneakers... Next time, try some high heels.
8.- The World We Live In - The Killers: It's no surprise to name Brandon Flowers as one of the most fashionable man alive (not to mention, gorgeous). In this very simple and relaxed video, we see them laughing, searching (God knows what) and looking like a million bucks.

7.- Poli - Zoé : So simple, so black & white, so NYLON photoshoot... "Recuerdo a Poli, era mi chica ideal, era tan skinny, tan natural, tan chic..."
6.-No You Girls - Franz Ferdinand: This one blowed me away the first time I saw it... The simplicity of the background, the 60's influenced outfits, the colours in them, and the painting all over the place... plus, the lyrics. :)

5.- Heavy Cross - The Gossip: I bet Beth Ditto once said "If Beyoncé can wear all of her metalic outfits and all of her jewelry and people adore her, why not me?? I mean, she's also overweight!!". Thank God for that Beth!!
4.- Paparazzi - Lady GaGa: It's just fashionista's eye candy! From Jeremy Scott to Dolce & Gabbana... They're all here to present one of the most stunning videos from the decade! Here's a whole new twist to the old mug-shots we were used to see! And it's very refreshing...
3.- Somebody to Love - Leighton Meester: If Leighton wasn't playing Blair Waldorf, this video may never happened... All the amount of clothing in this video is incredible, I think it's quite close to the number of outfits on the first Sex & the City movie! I hope Miss Meester can offer even better wardrobe next time! Fingers crossed!
2.- Diva - Beyoncé: After Single Ladies, Miss Knowles knew she had an album that could take a huge number of music videos. A lot of them came after, but none as chic, fashion-forward and entertaining as Diva.

1.- Bad Romance - Lady GaGa: When Paparazzi was released I thought "This is it", she can't do anything as big and fashionable as Paparazzi... Months later, GaGa prove me wrong! Bad Romance features some of the most impressive outfits music scene has ever seen, and they come from some of the biggest names in fashion. Oh My GaGa!!

It's Cold Bitch!

We are in the middle of December, and we all know what it means: cold cold times!

So, i'll get to the point. My dear friend Kelly (as in "It's Kelly Bitch!) is in desperate need of this gorgeous Pepe Jeans gloves we spotted yesterday.
It's Christmas time, and that also means generousity, and we are looking for a very generous donor who can give Kelly her gloves. She needs them! It's a Cold Cold World!!

The gloves are available at Pepe Jeans at the price of $850 (that's in pesos, so they are quite cheap).

Please! Make her Happy! It's Cold Bitch!!

Lindsay's Nipples

Muse mag is not one that features celebrities on their editorials. So it's very weird to see Lindsay on their newest issue.

She's been sort of an underdog this year (fashion, movie, music related). She's been moaked a thousand times! But she always manages to get new attention.

The photoshoot shows her pretty much having sex. Not that I am a prude, but, is that necessary? Don't get me wrong, I loved the editorial, and video that comes with it, but I feel she's way over the line.
Anyway, the photos are stunning, and I really loved them. (Not so much Lindsay's nipples).

A Not-So-Single Hot-As-Hell-Man

This is the first time that real fashion is so much talked about in a film's press tour.

Tom Ford is promoting A Single Man everywhere. Not only the movie is getting incredible positive reviews, but he's looking hot as hell (he's almost 50 by the way). But besides this, he can't help to stay away from the fashion bussiness gossip, so he's talked about how Yves (as in Saint Laurent) was very mean to him while he was working on YSL, and many other fashion related topics.

Check out this interview... it's candy for the eyes... and the ears...

Seeing Double

This one is a little old... (it's been out there for like 5 days :P) Elle Magazine's January Issue includes a double cover, with no other than the biggest female pop stars of 08/09: Miss Britney Spears and Miss Lady GaGa!
The first one, is captured in a very soft, relaxed atmosphere... with the boys of her life (her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James) in Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana.
The second one, is captured in a more pretty, flirtatious kinda way, all dressed up in Maison Martin Margiela, Karl Lagerfeld and Jil Sander.
My 2 favourite girls in one issue!! Priceless!! :D
(This is quite nice... my first post about Britney... you should know i love her)

I <3 Viktor & I <3 Rolf

Who said Tom Ford is the only one able to model his own clothes?

Dinamic duo Viktor & Rolf are featured on the Fall/Winter Issue of GQ Style Italy, styled by no other than themselves, showcasing pieces from their Fall 2009 Monsieur collection.

GQ's Obsession of the Year

She plays the Upper East Side bitch Blair Waldorf on one of TV's hottest shows Gossip Girl. She was featured on Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad". She released her own single and music video "Somebody to Love" along Robin Thicke. She walked inumerable red carpets and fashion shows. Now, the work has paid off and she's named "Obsession of the Year" on GQ's December "Man of the Year" Issue. Well done Leighton!!

Wearing an Yves Saint Laurent leather bodysuit; D&G, Cadolle and 3.1 Philip Lim lingerie; and Christian Loubutin and Azzedine Alaïa's shoes.

Total Recap Live

Ok, so I've been away for a while... I'm sorry!! I've been so busy I can't post as I'd like!! I'll try not do it anymore... :D

So, many things happened in my absence so here's a recap of my favourite fashion news from the last few days:

1.- (The most important) Lady GaGa - Bad Romance: At this point i'm sure everyone has seen it, but it's just awesome! Clearly she's honoring the industry that loves her. A 5 minute-fashion-extravaganza featuring costumes obviously by Haus of GaGa, Alexander McQueen's "Plato's Atlantis", Rachel Barret, Franc Fernandez, Alex Noble, and many more.
2.- Leighton Meester - Somebody to Love: Gossip Girl's "Blair Waldorf" premiered her very first solo single, and the video is HOT. The video shows her on the most sofisticated costumes I've seen in a while (apparently courtesy of his new BFF, who works at Vogue). Keep the fashionable videos comming!!

3.- Z Spoke: Zac Posen is releasing for Spring a more affordable fashion line on Saks Fifth Avenue. The prices start at $78 and the 60 pieces are more sportswear inspired.

4.- Emanuel Ungaro bashing Lindsay Lohan: Finally the man spoke!! Yes, he called it "a disaster" and he said he was "furious, but I can't do anything about it". On the other hand, Lindsay is said to be working with Jermaine Dupri (WTF?) on a fashion related project (still unknown if she left Ungaro).

5.- Vogue's Art Issue: Photographed by Annie Leibovitz we can see a huge number of entertainers, but the biggest one's are Lady GaGa and Lily Cole portraying "Hansel & Gretel". You can imagine who the witch is. (Oh, and it was Anna's idea to put GaGa on the shoot)

6.- The battle of the un-fashionable videos: 3 music stars premiered their music videos recently - Beyoncé (Video Phone featuring Lady GaGa), Shakira (Give it up to me) and Rihanna (Russian Roulette). The first one is so damn tacky, she was doing so well lately, this is disappointing; the second one is no surprise, she doesn't understand the importance of NO CONTACT LENSES!; and last, a girl who thinks she's the unrecognized daughter of Carine Roittfeld.
